Leighton completes John Holland sale

Leighton Holdings Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Marcelino Fernandez said the sale of John Holland marks the achievement of a material piece of the strategic review the company’s operation.

“The divestment reduces our gearing and strengthens our balance sheet so that we can be sustainably competitive and invest in future growth,” Mr Fernandez said.

“The Leighton Group will continue to work with John Holland under its new ownership, both through existing joint ventures and through potential collaboration on future opportunities.”

John Holland has been awarded a range of contracts in the oil and gas sector over the years, most noticeably marine sub-contracts for the LNG Projects currently under construction on Curtis Island – Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG), Santos GLNG and Queensland Curtis LNG (QCLNG) – along with work on the Chevron-operated Gorgon Project in Western Australia, and a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for Woodside Energy’s Browse LNG Project.

More recently the company has been charged with the construction of the 17 km St Albans to Werribee Water Pipeline in Victoria.

John Holland was acquired by Leighton Holdings in 2000.
