3D Oil has been granted a 21-month suspension and extension by the National Offshore Petroleum Titles Administrator (NOPTA) for the offshore Bedout Sub-Basin permit WA-527-P.
The company now has until December 28, 2021 to acquire and process a minimum of 510km2 of 3D seismic data.
This follows 3D Oil submission of an environmental plan for the Sauropod 3D Marine seismic survey in July 2019.
WA-527-P is 80km north-east of the Dorado oil and gas-condensate discovery (Santos 80 per cent, Carnarvon Petroleum 20 per cent), for which front end engineering design (FEED) phase is currently being undertaken.
3D Oil has identified at least 15 leads across the 6500km2 permit, with recent oil and gas migration studies grading the field as high prospectivity for oil.
The company stated that the results of the latest drilling programs at Dorado have important implications for the prospectivity within WA-527-P.
According to 3D Oil, the permit hosts the same Triassic play concept, where channel incisions have been identified on the latest reprocessed seismic.
The acquisition of the Sauropod 3D Marine seismic survey will allow the company to fully evaluate this play.
