AGL applies for Waukivory environmental modification

The application seeks to allow flowback water to flowback from the four pilot wells via an existing AGL water pipeline to a large, double-lined dam on the company’s nearby Tiedman’s property.

Flowback water will be stored temporarily onsite until a third party contractor is engaged, or Stage 1 of AGL’s proposed Gloucester Gas Project commences.

AGL said there are currently 0.6 ML of flowback water in the above ground tank at Waukivory, while between 3-3.5 ML of flowback water is expected to be recovered from the Waukivory wells to be stored in the 20 ML double-lined dam, which will also be fitted with a leak detection system.

Meanwhile, AGL will continue to negotiate with third parties for the treatment and disposal of the water at an Environment Protection Authority (EPA) licenced facility.

AGL’s Waukivory Pilot Program has been suspended since January while an investigation into the presence of BTEX chemicals found in samples of flowback water continues.
